Hi, my name is Emilio Guzmán and I am the new chair of the CIA. I'm currently pursuing my master's in International relations at the UvA. After completing my bachelor's degree at the TU Darmstadt in Germany in political science last year, I took a gap year to travel and to do an internship in Mexico City at the Friedrich Ebert Foundation where I worked on labour and gender rights. Along with my activities at the CIA, I'm also an active member of the MUNDUNSA committee, as well as working part-time at the Stichting URGENT on the Shelter City program.

The Committee Intellectual Activities (CIA) is the committee within SIB-Amsterdam, which, as the name suggests, organizes intellectual activities. Think of the monthly lectures and debates with an internationally related topic. For example, we had a lecture about the recent struggles between the European Union and Poland, the current state of Afghanistan, and Russian energy supply to Europe.
Continuously we are organizing new and interesting activities on an international topic. So, if you want to become active within the association and organize a lecture or similar event on an international topic, the CIA is the ideal committee for you!

Isa Yusibov- Eurasia Geopolitical Risk Analyst
Eurasia geopolitical risk analyst, predominantly focusing on Russia and Turkey. Based upon his broad area of expertise he has contributed to various analytical publications by renowned think tanks (Clingendael dossiers) and corporate intelligence companies over the last years, while also being a guest speaker at relevant institutions such as the Dutch Ministry of Defense.
Kathleen Ferrier - former Dutch MP for the Christian Democratic
Ms. Ferrier is a former Dutch MP for the Christian Democratic Appeal and an expert on development aid. She was MP from 2002 until 2012. After her work as an MP, she moved to Hong Kong from 2013 until 2018. In 2016, Ms. Ferrier became a lecturer on Human Rights at the Asian University for Women Bangladesh. She is also the founder of “Bright Hong Kong”, which is an NGO for discussion about issues that involve among others critical thinking. Besides that, Ms. Ferrier is also the chair of the Dutch UNESCO committee since September 2019.
Dr. Michael Onyebuchi Eze - historian of culture, nationalism, and social change.
Dr. Michael Onyebuchi Eze is primarily a historian of culture, nationalism, and social change. His primary field of specialization is History and Cultural Reflection with special emphasis on - Modern/Cultural History of Africa and - Philosophy of Race and Reconciliation.
Michael Onyebuchi Eze is a lecturer at the Department of Political Science at the University of Amsterdam and a graduate fellow at the University of Cambridge. He has taught at several Universities in Europe, the US, and Africa amongst which is Stanford University. Dr. Eze is also the founder of the Director Center for Leadership and African Diaspora Studies at the Covenant University of Nigeria. In 2008 Dr. Eze received his PhD Summa Cum Laude in History and Cultural Reflection from Universität Witten-Herdecke, Germany. He has published many academic works including two books. An African humanist that subscribes wholly and fully to the doctrine of ubuntu, meaning “I am because we are”, in theory, and practice. With his background in history and culture, Dr. Eze will contribute to our event with a unique perspective.
Pieter G. Kroeger - Historian, parliamentary assistant CDA
He is a host of "Betrouwbare Bronnen", a podcast with a reach of approximately a million listeners including the Prime Minister and other cabinet members. On October 1st, Betrouwbare Bronnen released an episode of 1 hour and 46 minutes on the progress of the impeachment of President Trump. This episode also discussed the history of impeachment and dealt with the impeachments of Presidents Nixon and Clinton as well.
Mr. Kroeger studied History and was a parliamentary assistant of the Dutch Christian Democrats. Thereafter, he become Advisor to (Junior) Ministers of Education. Furthermore, he is Editor-in-Chief of an innovative online magazine for the knowledge sector (ScienceGuide). Mr. Kroeger is also an author on politics and public management.
