If, like me, you love taking long strolls around historical neighborhoods, spending rainy afternoons wandering around museums, and immersing yourself in exhibits, the Culture society is the right place for you! Although I only took on the position of chair very recently, I am very excited to get together with other SIB members who share my passion for art, music, photography, history and anything that may fall under the beautifully broad definition of ‘culture’. I look forward to spending an afternoon each month learning and exploring together around Amsterdam!
The Cultural Society is the place to be at SIB if you are interested in anything that is related to culture. The mission behind the Cultural Society is bringing together SIB members in their common interest in culture, let it be museums, concerts, city walks or architecture. No matter how remotely connected to culture it might be, we are trying our best to have it covered in one of our monthly activities. Members of the Cultural Society themselves get to vote on the activity which they would like to do and after making a decision, a timeframe which suits as many members as possible is being chosen. Activities have been for example the exhibition of the World Press Photo or a guided City Walk in Amsterdam. We are trying to combine the events with something special like a guided tour to convey more information or a topic related discussion to make the activity as interesting and stimulating as possible. As the cultural society is a rather informal group of people, we often go for a drink or two after such visits. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, or if you'd like to join the society!
